Según explica, el propio Gobierno japonés descubrió en 2010 que el 82 % de las personas que figuraban como mayores de 100 años estaban muertas y no se había registrado correctamente su defunción. Para colmo, los estudios sobre nutrición muestran que Okinawa tiene una de las peores dietas del país, al incluir mucho alcohol y poca verdura, con lo cual, dato que difícilmente encaja con la supuesta longevidad extraordinaria de la isla.
